Defender Chronicles

Defender Chronicles

This is a somewhat innovative take on the Tower Defense genre, as it is presented in side-view, as opposed to top-down. Enemies begin at either the top or the bottom of a mountain, depending on the level, and work their way to the bottom or top, respectively. It uses pre-placed unit “hard-points” and a fixed path, so the decision-making is limited to which emplacement is used for which of the 6 unit types. Units can be upgraded, as well. Enemy behavior is not limited to walking on the paths either, as some enemies fly straight up the middle and others, such as dragons, sneak down the side of the map. This places importance on where and what to upgrade. In addition to the 5+ combat maps, there are a variety of other locations on the world map that serve a number of purposes, such as equipment purchase and secret quests. All-in-all, this is a pretty polished, high profile title, which I recommend.
